Haan’s 1830 Inn Covid-19 Safety Plan
First, let us say how sad we are that regardless of what happens, this summer will just not be the same. We are sad to miss some of you this season, sad that the normal Magic of Mackinac will/may be subdued this year, sad that we won’t be able to socialize with you in the way we normally would. We love you, we miss you, and we want to keep you safe. I have been working on this safety plan for the business this season and I anticipate it being active all season, but if a miracle occurs and Covid-19 diminishes completely away, we can go back to “normal.” In the meantime, we are doing our best to keep you safe, keep us safe, and stay in business so that at least if we can’t do things the way we always have, you are still able to stay with us and visit the island.
While we cherish our times with our guests during breakfast, in order to keep our guests and our staff as safe as possible, breakfast will be served in rooms, or outside. Each room will have a table suitable for breakfasting indoors, and guests will have the option to eat outside with a “to-go” boxed breakfast. Picnic blankets that have been sanitized and washed can be rented upon arrival. Guests will choose from a small menu for breakfast upon check in or ahead of time, and breakfast will be delivered to the outside of a guests door at a pre-arranged time.
Dishes will be washed on “sanitize” mode for every wash. If a guest prefers disposable single-use dishes they will be provided upon request.
We want to make your stay as comfortable as possible, with an emphasis on safety. In order to achieve the least amount of contact between employees and guests, there will be no daily maid service in rooms for the duration of a guest’s stay. Towels may be exchanged, and toiletries replenished, upon request. Baskets will be located in the halls for guests to deposit used towels, to minimize our contact with your towels. A list will be available for guests to mark necessary replacements for towels, toiletries, etc. that will be placed on the outside of the guest’s room door.
In between each guest’s stay, rooms will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Every surface including furniture, hot spots on walls, doors, bathroom appliances will be meticulously wiped with an antibacterial, antiviral cleaning agent. All bedding including blankets will be replaced in between each stay, pillows will have double pillow cases.
Common spaces such as hallways, porches, entryways will be disinfected frequently during high traffic times (mornings from 8am to 10am and evenings from 8pm to 10pm) and regularly throughout the day as guests come and go. In addition, the dining room and parlor will not be open to guest traffic, other than check in during inclement weather.
Because of the extra time required to make each stay as safe as possible, check in will be after 4pm, and check out will be at 10am. We know this can be inconvenient, but we hope our guests understand the need to prioritize safety. Innkeepers will call or email guests prior to their stay to arrange check in time ahead, so an innkeeper can meet guests outside of common spaces, weather permitting. Contact-less check in and check out will be made available by arrangement whenever possible. Room keys will be washed and sanitized with an alcohol solution in between every use.
Hand sanitizer stations will be located at all entrances. Employees will be provided masks to be worn during the work day. All visitors and staff will be expected to follow social distantancing of 6 ft in any common space.
In the event that one of our three staff members gets sick with Covid 19, we will be immediately closed for two weeks minimum , and your deposit will be fully refunded.
We hope you, our beloved guests, find these adjustments appropriate and comforting for your stay at Haan’s 1830 Inn. Please lets us know if you have any questions,
